Residential Services: Home & Community Based Waivers
To receive services through an Ohio Department of MRDD waiver, a person must be Medicaid eligible and also meet what is known as an ICFMR Level of Care (LOC). Individuals are qualified for an ICFMR LOC when they need supervision and assistance with certain activities of daily living, supervision of medication administration, and assistance and supervision to prevent harm due to a cognitive or physical impairment. A wavier can also fund services to keep an individual in their own or family home. Upon availability of waivers, the Services and Support Administration (SSA) Department will assist individuals with eligibility, application and coordination of the waiver services.
These waivers allow individuals to live in their homes or community settings and receive Homemaker Personal Care assistance and training.
- A Level I Waiver is for individuals with an ICFMR LOC who want to live at home, and who have a network of families, friends, neighbors and professionals who can safely and effectively provide the needed care in combination with the Waiver.
- Individual Options Waiver (IO Waiver) allows people to stay in their homes or reside in the community while receiving the services needed to ensure health and safety.
Respite options at the facility and in the community are also available through both the Level I and IO Waivers.
